The first large town in the world was probably Jericho in Palestine. The people of Stone Age Jericho (around 7,300 to 6,300 BC) seemed to love their wrinklies. They didn’t stick them in an old people’s home or bury them in some forgotten graveyard. No, they kept them at home, even after they were dead.

And, if they had no photographs to remind them of their glamorous granny’s fabulous face, they had another way of dealing with their dead.
